Zen Japanese Black Tea — Peaceful & Relaxing

Drinking this tea gives me peaceful and relaxing sensations.  The tea unique flavor comes from the brief oxidation and the type of tea leaves used.

Japanese teas are famous for their green teas; not so much for their black teas.  But Zen Japanese Black Tea is definitely not following the norms.  The cultivars used are traditionally for green tea.  Also, the tea oxidation is shorter than typical black tea.  The result is a very smooth taste with earthy and fruity undertones.  The brew has a beautiful honey-like color with a savory aroma.

We recommend using short brewing time, 45 seconds for the first brew.  Steep longer when rebrewing the same leaves.

Learn about tea, black tea, and the different tea types.

“Black tea is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, the same plant that’s used to make green tea. However, the leaves are dried and fermented, giving black tea a darker color and richer flavor. // When you do pour yourself a cup of black tea, you benefit from flavonoids that combat inflammation and support healthy immune function.” Penn Medicine—The Hidden Health Benefits of Tea

Tea is the most popular beverage in the world after water … The flavor of tea varies by where the tea leaves are harvested and how they are grown and processed. Black tea is the most popular worldwide, followed by green, oolong, and white tea.”  Harvard School of Public Health—The Nutrition Source—Tea

Follow the brewing instructions – this is not a tea for a large pot, but small batches carefully made. It really makes the flavor and aroma stand out. Excellent tea!
